Fall 2024 Anchored Relational (Formerly AIR Network) Foundations

This workshop presents an integrative theory of psychology as it pertains to both normal development and the impact of complex trauma on individuals throughout the lifespan. This theory underlies the practice of the Anchored Relational (formerly AIR Network) model for working with CPTSD and Dissociation, with interconnected considerations of neurology, development, dignity and competence, resilience, vulnerability, and intersectionality. People traumatized across multiple dimensions; familial, cultural, societal, and historical are seen in the context of their strengths and vulnerabilities, embedded in systems of oppression and control as well as privilege and resource. Stepping out of harmful relationships and systems of power and control into paradigms of integrity, dignity, and freedom, defined by individuals and communities, puts whole people at the center of their stories.

Understanding neurology, development, dignity, resilience, and vulnerability inherent in all human beings facilitates stepping free from trauma to find one’s center, supporting life giving actions in line with values. The resourcing and interventions taught are consistent with strengthening a person’s multi-directional attention which underlies the ability to manage neuro-dissociative states, regulate emotionally and physically, reduce c-ptsd symptoms and build compassionate relationships internally and externally.

Remote participation can be done in one of the following settings:

1. Register with 3-5 colleagues and meet together at a place of your arranging.  It works best if you can cast Zoom to a TV to watch the presenters.  You will then be able to practice in person with the group you are meeting with and will be assigned to one "breakout room" so that one of the trainers can check in on your group during the practice times. If you are registering with colleagues, you can indicate that on the registration form.  

2. Watch the training via Zoom on your own and then participate in practice sessions via "breakout rooms" with other participants who are attending individually and remotely.  Our experience training over Zoom since the pandemic started in March of 2020 suggests that it is to your advantage to meet in a small group rather than indidvually however we know that this is not possible for some.

The small group practice is an integral part of the training and certificates of completion are only given to those who attend the whole training and participate in the breakout groups.  Since the small group training is crucial to learning the model, we do not have any asynchronous options available at this time.
